Non-immigrant Visas (Individual)

If you wish to enter the U.S. on a temporary basis, finding the proper visa for your unique situation can be difficult. There are a variety of options you may be eligible for and it is important to ask which visa is right for you.

Visitor Visa (B-1/B-2)

Short-term visitors to the U.S. can obtain visas in their home countries to come for an initial period of up to six monthswith the option of applying for a one time 6-month renewal for a maximum of 1 year. B-1/B-2 visas are for a short duration and must not involve local employment.

• B-1 Visa:Visitors for business who may come temporarily to engage in business activities such as negotiations, board meetings, obtaining customer orders, and incorporating a new business.
• B-2 Visa: Visitors for pleasure who may come temporarily for tourism, rest, relaxation, medical treatments, and other purposes.
• Visa Waiver: Nationals of certain countries may also be eligible for a visa waiver to visit the U.S. for up to 90 days without the need to obtain a visa at the U.S. Consulate before seeking entry to the United States.

Transit Visa (C)

The C Visa is available to persons in immediate and continuous transit through the U.S. (example, crewmen joining a ship or individuals traveling through the United States to get to their destination in another country)

Crewmen’s Visa (D)

Available to a crewman (a person serving in any capacity required for operating and/or service on board a vessel), crewman trainees, and employees of owners or concessionaires (example, a beautician on a ship).

Student Visas (F-1)

Allows an individual to enter the United States as a full-time student at an accredited college, university, seminary, conservatory, academic high school, elementary school, or other academic institution or in a language training program.
